There are some great Yellowstone National Park lodging facitlites located near Old Faithful. The most famous is the grand Old Faithful Inn.
There is a combination of nine different lodges, hotels and cabins that are within the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park. They are operated by Xanterra, the company that runs the concessions in the Park. Most of the Yellowstone Lodges are historical in nature and great care is taken to preserve the character of the facilities. Perhaps the most famous National Historic Landmark is Old Faithful Inn. This rustic log lodge with a wood shingle exterior is located next to the famous Old Faithful Geyser. The original part of the Old Faithful Inn, known as the "Old House" was completed in 1904 and includes a spectacular lobby with a huge stone fireplace. During the early 1900s they added the East and West Wings. Many of those rooms have been remodeled recently. There are guest accommodations that have rooms with and without baths. A full service restaurant, deli, gift store and interpretive tours are available at the Yellowstone Inn. Due to wear and tear over the years and the 1959 earthquake that damaged the Inn, the decision was made to make some structural modifications and to renovate Old Faithful Inn. The work took four years and was completed in 2008. A major change in the Old Faithful Inn lobby is the return of the 7" sunken area around the huge rock fireplace. Apparently this was part of the original design but was removed and filled in many years ago. The floor of the lobby has been covered with a beautiful maple flooring. The crawl spaces and basement were enlarged and made into more useable utility and storage areas. The registration desk was enlarged and joined with the activities desk. There was a new hostess desk built out of stone with metal trim. There are several different types of rooms that are available at the Old Faithful Inn. Room rates range from $98.00 per night for a room without a bathroom to the Suites that are $527 per night. The suites were recently rennovated and have a sitting room with a refrigerator, a bedroom with two queen beds and a private bathroom. Also at Old Faithful are the Lodge Cabins. This historic cabin facility is located near Old Faithful Inn and includes a one-story main lodge built in the 1920's featuring massive logs and stone pillars. The cabins provide excellent views of the Old Faithful Geyser from the bakery and cafeteria-style food court. The large gift store is also located in the lodge. Basic cabins are equipped with or without bath and grouped nearby. The Frontier Cabins are available for $112 per night and private bathrooms. The Budget Cabins are available for $68 per night and do not have a private bath. The accommodations include lodge rooms, Western Cabins and Frontier Cabins. The interior features include furnishings, fixtures and appointments that have creative wildlife and park themes. A full service dining room, quick service "Geyser Grill" and the Bear Den Gift Store complete the amenities at Old Faithful Snow Lodge. The Lodge rooms are available for $201 per night and the Frontier Cabins are available for $99 per night.
When you walk in the front door of the Old Faithful Inn lobby the enormous stone fireplace catches your attention. When you look up, you will see the intricate log supports and stairway.
Old Faithful Snow Lodge & Cabins is the newest of Yellowstones full service hotel. Built in 1999, the log construction was planned to fit in with the old nostalgic feel of the Yellowstone Lodges.
